There are those days when all the earth seems grey and chill. When no one is there to hold your hand or share a cup of tea. The empty echoes in the house is more than one can stand. That kind of day happens to us all and that is when I grab my hat and scarf and head on down the hall. I get outside and briskly walk to stir the blood and gradually my mind will clear. The grass the trees the earth remind me that I’m not alone at all.
The Birds came Today
The birds came today
but the bath was frozen
through frosted panes I watch
stalks of dried flowers
naked trees against a grey sky
if it wasn’t for the birds
I’d be alone.
(Dohn Chapman 1984)
Lovely post, thanks for sharing!
Yes, we’re all connected to it all. Thanks for the lovely reminder.
Even in winter there is always something to see and for me something to smile about. And the sentiment you shared is why I went to the lake.
Nature AND poetry. Heaven! 🙂
Beautiful poem. Nature reminds us we are a small part of a bigger whole and connected to it all. Peace to you.
